Jennifer Hill - Vocalist / Piano

"Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music."  Angela Monet

Hmmm....what can I say? Lets try to say this in a nutshell...

I have been involved in music all my life! It all started when I was born and my mom sang to me. I loved to sing and would mimic her records and songs on the radio...before I was two I was singing full songs in tune and knew my purpose in life was to do music.

I started singing as a child in the community...I did guest singing at pageants (I was not a pageant girl...just a guest...pageants scared me!), sang at fairs, earned parts/leads in many musicals, sang the Star Spangled Banner at many sports events and performed in various other music related events in the public...

From there I went on to win a scholarship to attend University of Hartford's prestigious HARTT School of music (as a musical theater major) and after a year of attending, I  moved to Colorado (I went there on spring break and decided I did not want to come home!) where I attended Fort Lewis College as a Vocal performance major...(with an opera concentration ...which was something I NEVER thought I would do! But once I started getting into the complexity of the music..i loved the challenge and realized this was another style of singing that I could excel in.) It was a really great experience and taught me so much about being a great singer and musician. We performed TONS at Fort Lewis as we were responsible for bringing in funds to build the new multimillion dollar concert hall. Because of this, we met many awesome national artists, one of my favorite being getting the chance to sing with David Brubeck and The conductor of the Cleveland orchestra.

It was at Fort Lewis where I really started to write my own songs and develop myself as a singer/songwriter/pianist. They had great practice rooms and i used to bring my dog Emma with me and lock myself in the room with the grand piano for hours. I truly believe without moving to Colorado and moving away from my home state I would have never developed some of the skills I have as a musician. All my teachers there were Drs of music and they were tough! Without them I wouldn't have learned how to conduct a symphony, or how to become a vocal coach. They took my natural talent and made it more polished and gave me the skills to survive in  many different branches of the music industry.

I left Colorado in 1999 to pursue music in NYC . I moved to the upper east side with my doggie Emma. While I was there I sang in tons of clubs, did some extra work as an actress (I was once Amy Poehler's stand in on Comedy Central lol) and worked my butt off to pay the rent. I was living the dream and I had a great time living there and doing my thing. Then 9/11 happened when i was pregnant with my first daughter and I kinda didn't feel so safe raising a baby in the city during that time of despair and turmoil...so  I decided to move closer to family back to CT.

Flash Forward to now! I am back in Ct. My life is still filled with music and I front a band called Jennifer Hill and Co., I have an amazing daughter named Scarlett, I am newly married (to my amazing drummer hubby Bob Schwecherl), I just had another baby "Harlow" and I couldn't be happier! I am on a great record label, Sling Slang Records, my band is considered one of the best female fronted bands in the area (we won GBS 2009 for Best Female Vocalist), I have an amazing event that I do annually SWAN DAY CT http://www.facebook.com/swandayct  I teach others music as my day job, I lend my voice to vocals on other people's albums, I sing commercial jingles,  I book/ manage bands, and I get to perform by night... It is truly a great life and one that I am happy to live!

I hope you love our music, continue to check out our page, and continue to support local ORIGINAL music!!

Bob Schwecherl - Drums

Bob moved from California to Connecticut in early 2008, having lived in CA the last 20 years, he began to realize the fast paced, one uping lifestyle wasn't for him anymore.  Bob met up with Jen after answering a Craig's List ad.  Just recently leaving his CA based jam band, Grampas Grass, he was quickly getting ancy to play music. It took one phone call and three days before he finally experienced the New York music scene.  Now with a year and a half under his belt in the band, he's chugging away enjoying the band and the east coast scene.
